About Zéphyr


Zéphyr (she/they) is a diasporic trans artist. She structures her practice in ERAs, like pop stars —— mediated through a series of visuals, sounds, styles, installations, performances, etc., as she believes in art persona as a transgressive post-medium.

She views herself as a post-structuralist and meta-modernist: from Beijing to London, she oscillates between self-liberation and self-implication; she hates being objected by chasers but being subjected by neoliberalism seems even worse. She is currently investigating the politicization of aesthetics & platform radicalism to explore a new kind of alternativeness emerging in the dynamics of viewing relations today: object-heroism.

Before her artist career as a diva, she had been tortured enough in her French and Francophone studies in China during the bio-political policies that also survived the pandemic. Thanks to that, she was exposed to Foucault, Bataille and Marquis de Sade.

Now she is seen around kink clubs in London, extending her tough journey of torture, wearing latex, silicone, perfume, make-up. She always tries to walk the fine line between glamour and disruption, tits in or tits out. Just like she still believes in tenderness and intersectionality, as an emergent strategy or a divine intervention.
